Study In Canada
International students can enter Canada if they valid study permit or if their designated learning institution has an approved COVID-19 readiness plan. International students may also pursue their program online at a Canadian designated learning institution (DLI) and still be eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) once they complete their studies. NOTE-This is a temporary policy that aims to provide more flexibility to international students due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

To come to Canada under the study permit, you need to follow the following steps:

Select the program of study that you want to pursue in Canada
-
submit your application to the Canadian designated learning institution (DLI) of your choice.
-
If accepted by the DLI, you will receive letter of acceptance (LOA)
-
Submit an application for study permit to Government of Canada
-
Once the study permit is issued (which is your legal document providing you legal status in Canada), you arrange for your air ticket and come to Canada
-
After completing your studies, you can apply for post graduate work permit (PGWP), to remain in Canada and gain professional work experience (this work experience will help increase your CRS scoring to apply for your permanent residency)

Pathways to Permanent Residence for Students
There are many opportunities to extend the stay and ultimately transition to permanent residence, for students who complete post-secondary education in Canada. Having Canadian education, puts you at an advantage when pursuing Canadian permanent residence. Many federal and provincial immigration programs value candidates with Canadian education and work experience.
After completing your education in Canada, you can gain Canadian work experience by obtaining a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) which, depending on the length of your Canadian academic program, may enable you to work in Canada for up to three years.
While holding a PGWP, you can pursue many of the federal and provincial permanent residence programs, such as: Express Entry, PNP, Quebec skilled class etc.
